Information session on Study in Japan took place at
Dakar University in Senegal (9 February 2023)

On 9 February 2023, in collaboration with Dakar University and the Embassy of Japan in Senegal, Hokkaido University organised an Information Session on Study in Japan at Dakar University in Senegal. The session was a great opportunity to provide general information on university applications as well as scholarships to students of Dakar University who are interested in studying in Japan. The total of 77 students participated in this session.

The session was opened by a welcome remark by Professor Mame Samba Mbaye, the Vice Rector of Dakar University, which was followed by a presentation on general information on studying Japan by Hokkaido University. The Embassy of Japan in Senegal then provided the information on MEXT scholarship, followed by a presentation by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS). The Ambassador of Japan, H.E. Mr Osamu Izawa, also joined the session, and emphasised the importance of human resources and how studying in Japan could contribute to its development. There was a lively Q&A session towards the end of the programme.
