About Us

The Akita University Africa Office in Botswana is part of the "Study in Japan Global Network Project" commissioned by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) of Japan.

Akita University is entrusted with the promotion of the project in Sub-Saharan Africa since November 2024 .

The main objective is to promote opportunities for eligible individuals in Sub-Saharan Africa to study in Japan through:

  • Information sharing
  • Awareness-raising activities (including fairs, seminars, and webinars)
  • Individual consultations
  • Support for academic exchanges

These activities are carried out in collaboration with national and local institutions in the region.

Starting in April 2025, the study in Japan Regional Office in Sub-Saharan Africa will be based in Botswana and Kenya, with two Study-in-Japan-for-Africa Coordinators dedicated to promoting this initiative.
